This paper examines the subjective strains of home care givers in Germany. A total of 15 qualitative interviews with home care givers were conducted and analysed using a structuring qualitative content analysis. The results reveal new yet unknown reasons for strains of home care givers. These are e. g., bureaucratic burdens in contact with the national care insurance fund, or liabilities because of using a nursing service. Moreover, the results show that home care givers have a critical attitude about getting support by volunteers or professional nursing staff, as they are afraid of intrusions to their privacy.
