In Switzerland, about 50 % of nurses experience physical or verbal violence during one year of professional activity. However, aftercare for affected nurses is often insufficient however the negative consequences of violence against nurses are well known. This study intends to identify aftercare needs of affected nurses and to find out if these needs are different from the evaluation on the part of ward managers. Semi-structured interviews with affected nurses and focus group interviews with ward managers, were conducted. Three issues emerged: „adequate management of the situation“, „aftercare“ and „absence of negative consequences“.
