In Germany, Austria and Switzerland, a total of 1120 organ removal were performed in the operating departments in 2017. In Austria and Switzerland two different procedures to organ-procurement are used. In both procedures, the patient has been declared brain death prior to surgery. The aim of the systematic literature review is the identification of stress factors and coping strategies of nurses in the operating room during the organ-procurementprocess. This resulted in four different approaches to nursing practice, in the areas of interprofessional collaboration, training, support strategies and perceptions of nurses’ needs in the operating room.
